For many Asian Americans, especially those born in the United States, there is a lifelong challenge of reconciling ancestral heritage with the realities of a new home. Our family is no exception.
Japan’s long and complex history with the United States forms part of our story, as our roots trace back to Japan while we continue to build our lives here in America. Today, our family represents a blending of Japanese and Korean heritage—a reflection of the richness and diversity of our community.
Living in close proximity to the vibrant neighborhood of Japantown Sawtelle, our children have grown up immersed in its traditions, language, and community life. This environment has become an essential part of their identity, helping them and their peers connect with their cultural ancestry while also embracing the opportunities of their American experience.
In recognition of this legacy, we are proud to support Kizuna. Through this institution, our children and their friends continue to learn the language of their ancestors, celebrate cultural traditions, and preserve a history that remains vital to who we are and who we aspire to be.
